There are four types of connectors that can be used to end plastic optical fiber: simplex, simplex latching, duplex, and duplex latching. When connected to flexible link parts, all connectors snap into place. Simplex connectors have different colors to make it easier to tell which connections are for the transmitter and which are for the receiver. Duplex connections have keys that make sure they are inserted in the right direction. If the POF cable or connector will be used in very hot or very cold conditions or will go through a lot of temperature changes, you can add an RTV adhesive to make the cable or connector attachment stronger (see plastic connectoring instructions for more information).
